With Father’s Day fast approaching, the public has crowned TV personality, Paul O’Grady ‘Celebrity Pet Dad of the Year’ in the Rosewood Pet Parent awards.
Known not only for his glamorous alter ego, but for his love of animals as well, Paul O’Grady is the proud parent of five dogs, 14 sheep, ten pigs, chickens, ducks and even two owls!
As if his menagerie of pets doesn’t keep him busy enough, Paul remains a long-standing ambassador for Battersea Dogs’ and Cats’ Home and has spoken publicly about his passion for animal-welfare. Proving that every pet deserves a home, many of Paul’s pets are rescue animals themselves, including a Jack-Russell – Chihuahua cross named Eddie, whom he adopted whilst filming ‘For the Love of Dogs.’
Paul’s dedication to animal welfare and the unconditional love he has for his fur family saw the TV star secure 70% of the public vote, and beat favourites Ricky Gervais and David Beckham to win the crown.
When asked what made Paul O’Grady a worthy winner, the public commented: “I voted for Paul because of all the hard work he does with Battersea Dogs Home. Sometimes I watch his show and it pulls on my heart-strings! He does a huge amount to raise awareness for charities – he even donated signed memorabilia to my local cat rescue so they could auction them to raise funds.”
On behalf of pet parents everywhere, Rosewood want to thank Paul for being such an excellent role model and wish pet dads a very happy Father’s Day!
