Ulti-mutt guide to summer trips with your pooch

It might not be the summer you originally planned, but with life starting to return to (a new kind of) normal, many of us will be keen to plan some paw-some adventures with our four-legged friends. Whether that’s a UK staycation or day trips exploring the great outdoors, we’ve shared our top tips for a happy howl-iday with your canine companion:

Preparation is key

With holiday parks and hotels reopening after a few months on lockdown, you might be keen to experience a change of scenery.

It might seem obvious, but research the hotel, resort or campsite to check it has everything you need for your pooch. Some beaches and hotels may be pet-friendly but can charge an additional fee. Also, there may be restrictions on where you can access with your pet in tow, particularly public beaches at peak times, so make sure pooches are allowed before you make the journey.

Check out the English Heritage and the National Trust, which both have plenty of pet-friendly sites waiting to be discovered, across the UK.

Travel in style

Help to keep pups comfortable and safe on road trips - our super-soft quilted car seat cover is double sided and plush for long car journeys. It’s also water resistant and wipeable - ideal for keeping pesky muddy paws off your seats! Keep your pooch cool with our Chill mat - which are made with new cool gel technology.

Our MP Bergamo Plastic Carriers are available in a range of colours and sizes, and also double up as a practical bed for your pet if you’re staying in a hotel or camping.

Pack some tasty treats for your trip but to avoid any upset tummies, feed your pet three-four hours before you depart, and make sure they have plenty of bottled water for the journey. The Collapsible Travel Bottle and Travel zip up dual bowls are paw-fect for keeping your pet fed and watered whilst you’re on the go.

Why not pack your doggo’s favourite toy if you’re planning a long car journey? It’ll provide them with a sense of familiarity and not to mention help to keep them entertained!

Make a splash

Dogs love jumping into water, and a paddle is a great way to help them cool off on a hot summer's day. Help to keep them safe whilst playing in water with a lifejacket – our reflective swim jackets have a handle for easy lifting out of the water. We think they’re the paw-fect holiday must-have for summer day trips on a boat or a barge!
